Daniel Island – Alternate Shoreline Protection Schemes

Geoscience worked with a local engineering firm to perform a review of past shoreline/littoral changes, examine existing geomorphology, physical conditions, and littoral transport patterns, and assess potential living shoreline stabilization techniques at a local waterfront park. The area had seen 'noticeable' erosion in the past several years and was the site of a previous shoreline restoration that did not appear to have reduced erosion. Several semi—soft and living shoreline techniques were recommended to achieve the stated goals of the town.
