Plymouth Park, Charleston - Breakwater Analysis

Geoscience reviewed the potential effects from a proposed offshore sill/breakwater at a boat launch for a local engineering firm in Charleston SC. The work performed included: 1) assimilation and integration of recent lidar and bathymetry data with historic data to examine shoreline trends in the AOI; examination of existing morphology, littoral sediment characteristics, and physical conditions; and analysis of potential sediment transport pathways, forcing mechanisms, alterations of transport from the planned offshore breakwater, and resulting erosion/deposition outcomes.
